Abstract

Bolus is a radiotherapy tool that is often used for cases of tumors or cancer that are located on the surface of the skin. The aim of this research was to determine the equivalence of polymer clay with tissue as a bolus material in radiotherapy treatment. By using the image capture method on a CT scan using axial scanning with voltage and current according to the clinical examination, the bolus image results can be viewed on a computer so that they can be read according to the CT Number using RadiAnt DICOM Viewer software. The effect of Al2O3 metal powder on polymer clay can be seen from the CT Number and Relative Electron Density graphs produced. From the CT Number (HU) results of polymer clay with a mixture of metal powder Al2O3 0g, 1g, 4g, 7g, 8g, and 10g, the parameters of the head, thorax, abdomen are close to lung tissue, skin tissue, soft tissue, and fat tissue. Meanwhile, the results of the Relative Electron Density (RED) values for polymer clay with a mixture of metal powder Al2O3 0g, 1g, 4g on the head, thorax and abdominal parameters are close to lung tissue. However, the value of RED polymer clay with a mixture of metal powder Al2O3 4g on the thorax parameters and the value of RED polymer clay with a mixture of metal powder Al2O3 7g, 8g and 10g on the parameters of the head, thorax and abdomen are not close to the tissue.
