Abstract

The energy of the electron beam will decrease when interacting with the medium because of the stopping power. This electron energy is transferred to the medium so that it becomes the absorbed dose of radiation in the medium through which the electrons pass, until eventually the electron will lose all of its energy so that it no longer travels in the medium. In this study, the electron beam energy reduction and absorbed dose were calculated. With the assumption that the electron motion does not undergo a deflection in the medium, so that it can ignore the radiative stopping power. The observed electron beams with energies of 6, 8 and 10 MeV interacting with air, water and adipose tissue. The graph plotting and integral processing is carried out with the OriginPro 8.5 software. Calculation of absorbed dose using Collision Stopping Power electron data at a distance of 100 cm for air medium, also 1 cm and 2 cm for water medium and adipose tissue. The results of the study show that the range of trajectories of electrons in the medium will increase as the energy increases. The range of electron paths is also affected by the density of the medium, the range of paths will increase as the density of the medium decreases, in this case the farthest when electrons in air, are compared in water and adipose tissue. The absorption dose is proportional to the Collision Stopping Power, it is found that the absorption dose will increase with the increase in electron energy, the absorption dose will decrease with the path length of the electron. The results of this study were able to confirm the reduction of electron energy and absorbed dose for electrons with energies of 6, 8 and 10 MeV.
